Gowthaman bags bronze at All India Karate Tournament 2017

Chennai,Oct 11(tamilnaducentral):  Lit the Light, the Chennai-based volunteering group that works for the empowerment of the visually challenged people is proud to share the happy news of one of its volunteers, G Gowthaman making it big at All India Karate Tournament 2017 held at Mettupalayam on October 8, 2017.

Gowthaman armed with the Black Belt-Kata stood third at the tournament in Open Men Category and walked away with the bronze trophy.

The Chennai-based Karate champ has been groomed by All India chief Instructor Master P M Velu. Kyoshi C Mariappan and Sensai S Vijay Babu were the referees at the tournament.


A visibly happy Gowthaman shared with us that not only he is good at Japanese martial art form but also took a liking to traditional martial art of Tamil Nadu, the Silambam. He stood first at an international silambam tournament held at Malaysia this year and awarded with the gold trophy.

Being one of the regular volunteers at Lit The Light, his overseas trip to Malaysia was sponsored by the nonprofit-profit group, said Gowthaman.
