Chennai, Sep 12(tamilnaducentral): Following the dismissal of the plea filed by MLA S Vetrivel to quash Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami’s decision to convene a general council meet today, the ruling AIADMK with its 113 legislators has convened today in the capital. Key decisions like sacking of jailed AIADMK general secretary Sasikala Natarajan (but not removing from party) are expected to be taken among several others. The decisions taken today are expected to be in line with the demands put forth by O Panneerselvam and camp, prior to the merger.

The Madras High Court also slapped a fine of Rs 1 lakh on MLA Vetrivel for wasting the court’s time and asked him to stay at home if he did not wish to attend the meeting.

Lakhs of Tamil Nadu government employees under the banner of Joint Action Committee of Tamil Nadu Teachers’ Organisations  — Government Employees’ Organisations (JACTTO-GEO) are on an indefinite strike since yesterday, demanding implementation of the seventh pay commission’s recommendations and withdrawal of the new pension scheme. However, a certain section of the unions has refused to take part in the strike, saying they would wait until October 15 for the government to act on their demands.
