Chennai,Jan9(tamilnaducentral): Tamil Nadu Chief Minister O Panneerselvam and AIADMK general secretary Sasikala Natarajan were present on the same stage at the India Today Conclave-South today. This was the first large platform for Sasikala to make an appearance in public post the demise of former AIADMK leader J Jayalalithaa. Sasikala lit the lamp and inaugurated the event, despite the presence of the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, said reports.
Sasikala Natarajan in an interview to India Today expressed happiness over the media group hosting the conclave in the region and said if Jayalalithaa were alive, she would have definitely been a part of it.
AIADMK spokesperson V Maitreyan told India Today that it was up to Sasikala Natarajan (Chinnamma) to take over as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu and that the party was ready for her to take over.
India Today Consulting Editor Rajdeep Sardesai on the channel said that the administration was preparing for a change of guard in the government and that Sasikala might take over as the Tamil Nadu CM either on January 12 or January 18,both being the auspicious dates.
On the other end of the spectrum, the Madras High Court which earlier stated there were several unanswered questions in the death of J Jayalalithaa, has issued a 4-week period to the central and state governments for further action and the next hearing has been set for February 24. The Apollo Hospitals that treated J Jayalalithaa has said it was ready to part with the details of treatment given to former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister in a sealed cover.
