The occasion will be used to set the ball rolling for Assembly polls, said BJP’s Tamil Nadu Secretary GK Selvakumar. Union Minister Pon Radhakrishnan and National General Secretary Muralidhar Rao are expected to take part in the public rally.
The public rally will be addressed by Narendra Modi either at VOC or at CODISSIA grounds near the airport. Coimbatore would be cordoned off with tight security ahead of Narendra Modi’s visit and preliminary security checks by bomb squads had already been conducted in and around the venue. Strict vigil is being maintained across the city.
BJP Tamil Nadu unit leader Tamilisai Soundararajan said that public address by Narendra Modi at Coimbatore would be a big turning point in the Assembly elections and boost the morale of the party cadres. She added that no party can assume power without the support of BJP and expressed confidence that the BJP-led alliance would win the polls in Tamil Nadu.
