Chennai,Dec29 (tamilnaducentral): DMDK office in Koyambedu and the house of Vijayakant has been cordoned off by City Police. Vijayakant has moved an anticipatory bail petition in the Madurai bench of HC. HC has posted the case to January 5th and stayed any move to arrest him.
A posse of policemen landed up at the office of DMDK . They were stationed around the building located in 100 Feet Road, near CMBT bus stand. Similarly, police came in large numbers to the street where Vijayakant lives. The large number of policemen has led to a rumour that Vijayakant would be picked up for the speech asking DMDK workers to not allow any AIADMK banners and asked them to tear down any banner that featured Jayalalithaa. The speech was made at Thanjavur where DMDK held a meeting to extend flood relief to delta farmers. After the speech, DMDK workers went on a rampage. In retaliation, AIADMK tore up DMDK posters. Tension prevailed in the town.
Word has got out that AIADMK cadre have been told to target Vijayakant. Fearing that a full scale violence would be unleashed by AIADMK cadre, police has put a preventive measure to see that the actor- politician and his party HQ are not attacked. In various districts, AIADMK leaders have been told to restrain workers from indulging in violence. Party TV channel Jaya TV kept on beaming the appeal from Amma to maintain peace.
Chennai press persons have filed a case against Vijayakant for threatening them and using abusive language. Esplanade police has taken it on file. Vijayakant has however refused to apologize to any press person.
